Stamped concrete lasts just as long as regular concrete when properly installed and maintained. You can expect 25 to 30 years or more. The stamp pattern is impressed into the concrete itself, so it will not wear off. The color can fade over time from UV exposure, but regular resealing every few years keeps it looking fresh. The sealer itself needs reapplication every 2 to 3 years depending on traffic and exposure. This is far less maintenance than natural stone or pavers, which can shift, crack, grow weeds between joints, and require regular releveling.
The texture from stamping provides more grip than smooth concrete, but sealed surfaces can be slippery when wet. We address this by using sealers with slip-resistant additives, especially for areas around pools or in walkways. The amount of texture in the stamp pattern also matters. We use control joints, proper reinforcement, and correct base preparation to minimize cracking. Most stamped concrete installations go many years without significant issues. If problems do develop, we offer repair services and will work to make the fix as invisible as possible. Regular maintenance and resealing also help prevent minor cracks from becoming major problems.
